  1. The cool thing is that it’s in 3D with the ‘eyes’ (Venus and Jupiter) being hundreds of times further away than the moon.

    As such, in other parts of the world it appeared as a frown face.

    You can achieve the same sort of effect by holding your finger half way between your face and your computer screen. Depending on which eye you look through, your finger appears in front of a different part of the screen.

    Same thing happens for the moon. And depending on where the ‘mouth’ is (compared to the eyes) it either appears as a smile or a frown.
